16 Year Old Teen Bedroom Makeover
The choice for furniture is vast at Ikea and I can usually work any space with their range of units. I had previously taken her Kallax unit into my office so she was without storage.
To takle her clothing and accessories, I bought the biggest wardrobe from Ikea's PAX range. I worked out that the widest version would fit snugly against her back wall and opted for sliding doors as I HATED the open doors that she left me with every morning whilst she was at school. She loves to dance, so what better than floor to ceiling mirrored sliding doors..?
Maya wanted her single bed so that she can have carpet space to dance. We kept her previous Ikea bed with storage at the bottom and changed her bedding to match. I added lush curtains first and then worked the wall space with the new Ustrata boxes from Ikea. The different widths, styles and colours allowed for a really playful yet sophisticated..almost commercial feel above her headboard. Her headboard is a lush silver grey bought from Ebay. Sadly the carpet which is a sage green had to stay as it's not very old. Thankfully it works well with the scheme and she can always put an accent rug down. ![]()
Her makeup area is unfinished. I purchased two Alex Drawers for her makeup and left the wheels off. I had a piece of toughened glass made to go across the top exactly the width of the drawers and longer to allow for a sitting space in between. We will finish with units and lights above this to make a bespoke makeup/getting ready station complete with large mirror.
It's so much fun starting a room from scratch and Maya loves it.
